What is Clear Aligner?
-
Clear Aligner is the invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces.
-
Clear Aligner uses a series of clear, removable aligners to straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets.
-
Clear Aligner has been proven effective in clinical research and in orthodontic practices nationwide.
Invisible, Removable,
and Comfortable.
Aligners will give you the beautiful straight teeth you’ve always wanted and the best of all, no one can tell you’re wearing them. Clear Aligner is great for adults and teenagers.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?
-
You wear each set of aligners for 1 - 2 weeks, removing them only when you eat, drink, brush, and floss.
-
As you replace each aligner with the next stage, your teeth will move little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the their final position.
-
You will visit us about once every 8 - 10 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time varies depending on the complexity of the case.

Pros and Cons of Braces and Clear Aligners
When choosing an orthodontic treatment plan, patients often weigh the pros and cons of Traditional Fixed Braces versus Invisalign Clear Aligners. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages, suiting different situations and patient needs.
Traditional Fixed Braces
Pros:
-
Wide Applicability: Traditional fixed braces offer powerful strength and precision in correcting a wide range of complex dental issues, including severe malocclusions, crowded teeth, or large gaps. For some complex cases or those requiring significant tooth movement, traditional braces are often the more effective, or even the only, option.
-
No Self-Discipline Required: Since the brackets and wires are fixed to the teeth, patients cannot remove them on their own. This eliminates concerns about insufficient wear time affecting the treatment outcome. This is an advantage for children, teenagers, or adults who may lack self-discipline.
-
Relatively Lower Cost: Generally, the cost of traditional metal braces is more economical than that of clear aligners like Invisalign.
-
Long History, Mature Technology: Traditional orthodontic techniques have been developed and refined over a long period, with extensive clinical experience. Doctors have strong control over their application and results.
Cons:
-
Aesthetic Impact: Metal brackets and wires are very noticeable on the teeth, which can affect a patient's smile and social confidence, especially for adults or teenagers.
-
Lower Comfort Level: Brackets and wires can rub against the oral mucosa, causing discomfort, pain, or even mouth sores. Teeth might also feel sore or tender after each adjustment.
-
Difficult to Clean: Food debris easily gets stuck around the brackets and wires, making cleaning more challenging. Poor oral hygiene can lead to an increased risk of cavities and gum problems.
-
Dietary Restrictions: Patients need to avoid hard or sticky foods to prevent brackets from detaching or wires from deforming. Colored foods (like curry) can also stain the elastic bands.
-
Frequent Appointments: Typically requires returning for check-ups and adjustments every 3-4 weeks.
Clear Aligners
Pros:
-
Highly Aesthetic: Invisalign aligners are made from clear plastic and are virtually invisible when worn, not affecting the patient's appearance or smile. This is very appealing to adults or teenagers who are conscious about their image.
-
Comfortable Wear: Clear aligners have a smooth surface, eliminating the friction and scratching that metal brackets and wires might cause, generally leading to a more comfortable wearing experience.
-
Easy to Clean: Patients can remove the aligners themselves for brushing and flossing, making oral hygiene easier and more thorough, which helps reduce the risk of cavities and gum disease.
-
Dietary Freedom: Aligners can be removed during meals, so there are no dietary restrictions like with traditional braces, allowing patients to enjoy a variety of foods.
-
Fewer Appointments: Invisalign treatment usually provides multiple sets of aligners at the beginning, allowing patients to change them themselves, resulting in fewer required visits and more flexible scheduling.
-
Predictability: Invisalign treatment often uses 3D simulation technology, allowing patients to preview their final results, which helps build confidence in the treatment.
Cons:
-
Highly Dependent on Patient Compliance: Invisalign aligners need to be worn for at least 20-22 hours per day to achieve ideal results. Failure to strictly adhere to wear time will severely impact the progress and effectiveness of treatment, potentially even leading to treatment failure.
-
Relatively Higher Cost: Due to the customized production and technological complexity of Invisalign aligners, their treatment cost is typically higher than traditional fixed braces.
-
Limitations for Complex Cases: Although Invisalign technology continues to advance, for some very complex cases or those requiring extensive tooth movement, its corrective effect may not be as stable and controllable as traditional braces. Sometimes, a combination with traditional orthodontic appliances might even be necessary.
-
Easy to Lose: Due to their removable nature, aligners can be easily lost. If lost, reordering is necessary, which can delay treatment progress and incur additional costs.
-
Inconvenient to Remove and Insert: Aligners need to be removed and reinserted for every meal, drink (except plain water), and brushing, which some people might find bothersome.
When choosing an orthodontic method, the most crucial step is to have a detailed consultation with a professional orthodontist. The doctor will assess your specific dental condition, bite issues, lifestyle habits, aesthetic needs, and budget to recommend the most suitable treatment plan for you.
